Craig Parker, Marton Csokas & Lawrence Makaore December, 2001 NZ Herald spotlighting “Local Actors Make Good”
They look so young and fresh-faces *squishes* ‘em
Aww, look at Marton! And as always, it’s a treat seeing Ian’s tattoo.
Marton Csokas and Cate Blanchett (with Peter Jackson) on the Lothlorien set
I’ve realized I made an oversight! Marton Csokas (pronounced Cho-kash), who played Celeborn, turned 44 on June 30th. I absolutely adore this man, and while you may be unfamiliar with him, you should love him too.
He, like every other Kiwi, starred on Shortland Street, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and Xena: Warrior Princess (He played Xena’s lover Borias, and he shared a few episodes with Karl Urban and Craig Parker.)
If you’re a slasher, I recommend the short Kiwi film “Twilight of the Gods.” You won’t regret it. Part 1 is on YouTube.
Marton also appeared in The Bourne Supremacy, the same Bourne film that Karl Urban was in. The next year he starred in Kingdom of Heaven opposite Orlando Bloom. He also provided his voice to a character in Star Wars: Episode II, Attack of the Clones which starred Christopher Lee.
Other films he’s appeared in have been xXx (with Vin Diesel, who went on to star in the Chronicles of Riddick with Karl Urban), Æon Flux (with Charlize Theron, who recently starred in The Road with Viggo Mortensen), and the new adaptation of Alice in Wonderland (with Johnny Depp, who was in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy with Orlando Bloom.)
To sum up: This man is wonderful, and is proof that everything leads back to the amazing cast of LotR.
Happy Belated Birthday, Marton. You’re fabulous!
